Post-Construction Cleanup
Final-phase glass, facade and site cleaning that turns a finished build into a move-in-ready property.

From build-out to move-in
The final clean is the last trade on site and the first impression at turnover.
- Final-phase glass, facade and site cleaning
- Labels, paint and debris removed after build-out
- Glass inside and out, frames and sills
- Rolls straight into a recurring program for the new building
- 100% W2 crews: trained, insured S&K employees
Name every residue
Heavy construction residue takes more time than routine cleaning. Put each one in the scope:
- Labels, stickers and protective films
- Paint and stain overspray
- Mortar, concrete and cement splash
- Sealant and lubricant smears
- Sealer runoff from masonry and stone
- Metal surfaces at entrances and storefronts
Clean once, at the right time
| Step | What happens |
|---|---|
| 1. Other trades finish | Work near the glass is done. |
| 2. Protection comes off | Glass protection is removed. |
| 3. Condition walk | Walk and photograph the glass with the general contractor. |
| 4. Test area | Test-clean each glass type and examine it before proceeding. |
| 5. Final clean | Glass, frames, sills, facade and site. |
| 6. Sign-off | Joint walkthrough, punch list closed and signed. |
| 7. Handoff | The building moves to its recurring program. |
Protect the glass, then protect the record
NGA guidance recommends against scrapers, abrasives and harsh chemicals on any glass product, and says heat-treated glass needs extra care. Agree in advance how each residue will be removed, and follow the glass manufacturer's guidance.
- Write glass protection into the general contractor's scope
- Walk and photograph the glass before the final clean
- Agree cleaning methods for construction residue in advance
- Keep before-and-after photos and a record of any damage found
Scratches found at turnover? Glass restoration can often remove surface scratches faster than replacement glass can be ordered, so the building opens on time. See glass and metal restoration.

After other trades finish near the glass and protection comes off, and before the final walkthrough and turnover. Cleaning before other trades finish means cleaning twice.
NGA guidance recommends against scrapers, abrasives and harsh chemicals on any glass product, because they can cause irreparable damage. Agree methods in advance.
Photograph them before the clean. Surface scratches can often be sanded, buffed and polished out, and restoration is often faster than ordering replacement glass. Deep scratches mean replacement.
